Breeden’s Orchard

Maintaining a sense of normalcy in a time that is so full of uncertainty can be hard. Breeden’s Orchard in Mt. Juliet is trying to keep as much “normal” in the world as they can. Starting March 31, 2020, they will be open Tuesdays 9-1, Thursdays noon-4, and Saturdays 9-1 to offer locally grown and sourced produce and products.

Breeden’s Orchard has been around for almost 50 years and has been a staple in WilCo for just as long. In 2017, after about 7 years of the orchard being closed, the Dorfman family purchased the orchard. Now, you might think purchasing an orchard on a whim sounds like a crazy thing (and it is), but the craziest part of the story is that the Dorfman family has absolutely no experience with orchards, farming, or agriculture. They come from over 90 years of comedy club experience! So, they jumped right in and, with the help of the surrounding community, they have brought back the Breeden’s Orchard we all know and love (with some great upgrades and changes too)!

Now that you have a background on Breeden’s, let’s talk about the elephant in the room: how are they taking safety precautions for stopping the spread of COVID-19. Breeden’s Orchard will be offering curbside pick-up for anyone who is not feeling well or does not feel comfortable getting out in the open to shop. They will also be sanitizing the baskets after every single use, and they will be sanitizing the store like it’s going out of style. They also ask that all transactions are made with credit card or digital payment so there is no handling of money by either party.
